Courses

BPP offers intensive courses for TC and TPS levels. For TPE we have a link structure which consists of two blocks of 1.5 weeks each.

Test of Competence

Test of Competence (TC) is the first level of ICAS and provides students with basic concepts, knowledge and skills in core areas. Students study five of the base subjects - Financial Accounting, Principles of Auditing & Reporting, Business Law, Business Management and Finance. This is an eight week intensive course incorporating taught days, course exams and revision days.

The TC level comprises five papers, as follows:

  • Financial Accounting
  • Principles of Auditing & Reporting
  • Business Management
  • Business Law
  • Finance

TC: Acquisition of Knowledge Base

The TC Course is an eight-week Intensive Course leading up to the ICAS Exams in Week 9. Students cover all five subjects across the eight weeks and will undertake three Course Exams during this time, as follows:

  • Progress Test 1 - FA is a 2hr exam, all other subjects 1hr
  • Progress Test 2 - 2hr exam per subject
  • Mock Exam - 2hr exam per subject

Progress Test 2 and Mock Exams are in format of the real Exam.


Each Exam (except FA) consists of 20 multiple-choice questions and two compulsory questions. FA Exam consists of 16 MCQ's and one case study.

Test of Professional Skills

Test of Professional Skills (TPS) is the second level of ICAS, which equips students with practical skills in core areas necessary for an entry level professional accountant. Students study four subjects - Financial Reporting, Assurance & Business Systems, Advanced Finance and Taxation. This is a 12-week intensive course incorporating taught days, course exam and revision days.

TPS - Test of Professional Skills

The TPS level comprises of four papers as follows:

  • Financial Reporting
  • Assurance & Business Systems
  • Advanced Finance
  • Taxation

TPS: Development of Practical Skills

At the TPS Level, TC Knowledge is assumed. To find out more about the syllabus please see the ICAS website.

The TPS Course is a 12-week Intensive Course leading up to the ICAS Exams in Week 13. Students will cover all four subjects across the 12 weeks and during this time will undertake four Course Exams as follows:

  • Mock Exam 1 - 1.5hr exam per subject
  • Mock Exam 2 - 1.5hr exam per subject
  • Mock Exam 3 - 2hr 15min exam per subject. This is in the format of the real exam. Paper 1 consists of one 50-mark question, while paper 2 consists of two 25-mark questions.
  • Mock Exam 4 - 2hr 15min exam per subject in the format of the real exam. Paper 1 consists of one 50-mark question, while paper 2 consists of two 25-mark questions.

Test of Professional Expertise

Test of Professional Expertise (TPE) is the final level of ICAS and is intended to bring together the knowledge from the earlier two levels in order to provide professional advice in business scenarios. TPE consist of two blocks, 1.5 weeks per block, incorporating case study days and mock exams.

TPE: Test of Judgement & Application of Expertise

At the TPE Level, TC & TPS are assumed knowledge.

The TPE Course consists of two Block Courses of one-and-a-half weeks each, over a period of 6 months.

During the courses students will cover a range of case studies. TPE is intended to bring together assumed knowledge from TC & TPS in order to provide professional advice to business people in real life situations.

There are 3 Course Exams, as follows:

  • Mock Exam 1 - 5.5 hr case study on Day 5 of Block 1
  • Mock Exam 2 - 5.5 hr case study on Day 10 of Block 1
  • Mock Exam 3 - 5.5 hr case study on Day 5 of Block 2

For Mock Exams 1 & 3 Students will receive a 30-minute Counselling Sessions with their marker.

All mocks are in the format of the real exam.

Business Ethics (BE)

Business Ethics (BE) - this two day course is in addition to Ethics, which features in all three levels. The course is compulsory for all students and is assessed by a written assignment. Day one takes place at TC level and day two during the TPE Course.
